Iarmhí TV Westmeath SFC 'Team of the Year' named
South Westmeath clubs have two representatives on the Iarmhí TV selected Shay Murtagh Precast Senior Football Championship 2025 'Team of the Year'.
Garrycastle's Conor Cosgrove and Aidan Burke of Tang were two of the six forwards listed by Iarmhí TV's Ray Gavin during Monday night's 'When We Were Kings' podcast.
Unsurprisingly, county champions The Downs have six players on the 'Team of the Year'.
The chosen sextet are goalkeeper Trevor Martin, corner back Peter Murray, half backs Ciaran Nolan and Trevor Moran, half forward Kevin O'Sullivan and corner forward Luke Loughlin, the prominent Westmeath forward also being named on the Iarmhí TV Westmeath senior hurling championship 'Team of the Year'.
Defeated county finalists Coralstown-Kinnegad have four players named on the team. Eoin O'Brien and Danny Woods are listed in the full back line, Brian Cooney is named at centrefield, half forward Darren Giles completing the club's quartet of players selected.
Mullingar Shamrocks have two players named on the team, namely Shane Ormsby in centrefield and Dean Moore in his customary full forward berth.
St Loman's player Jack Geoghegan completes the 'Team of the Year' at right half back.
Taking a trip down memory lane, the 'When We Were Kings' podcast reminisced on the Lake County's 1995 All-Ireland winning minor team, the victorious U20 provincial champions of 2000 and the Leinster football championship success of 2004.
Featuring players who were integral to each team's success, host Ray Gavin interviewed All-Ireland minor winning captain, Damien Gavin, two time All-Star John Keane and star forward Denis Glennon during the extensive podcast as the three players shared standout memories from that era.
