Molloy an influential presence on Athlone Town double winning team
Westmeath Independent Community & Sports Awards in association with Westmeath County Council
Outstanding Achievement of the Year finalist: Roisin Molloy
Roisin Molloy has been an integral part of the honours achieved by the Athlone Town women's team since 2023.
Having joined the club in 2021, the winger from Co. Sligo has become a pivotal member of the first team, setting up and scoring numerous goals during her four years with the club.
Molloy was an influential member of the team that won the Women's FAI Cup for the first time in the club's history in 2023. She has remained a constant presence on the right wing as Athlone added to the cup success of 2023 with a first Premier Division title in 2024 and double silverware at the end of the 2025 season.
The former Gurteen Celtic player gave an influential display on her European debut for the club scoring a brace of goals during Athlone Town's defeat of Cardiff City in July.
Later, in the same competition, Molloy scored in a 2-0 win over Serbian opponents Crvena Zvezda (Red Star Belgrade) which earned the club a place in the first qualifying round of the Europa Cup.
The 23-year-old's overall play across offensive positions has made her stand out by creating space, linking defence with attack and consistently producing noteworthy performances.
Molloy was rewarded for her consistent displays for Athlone Town throughout the 2025 season when she was one of six players nominated for the SSE Airtricity Women’s Premier Division 'Player of the Year' award.
She was also named on the Women's Premier Division 'Team of the Season' at the SSE Airtricity Women’s Premier Division Awards in Dublin last Friday night. In October 2024, she was chosen for the Player of the Month award in recognition of her contribution to Athlone's first league title.
Roisin, who has made more than 100 appearances for the club, will once again don the blue and black colours next year having recently renewed with Athlone Town for the 2026 season.
The Outstanding Achievement of the Year finalists are Roisin Molloy, Anna McGann and Kayleigh Shine.
