Team of the Year finalists: St Peter's FC senior team
A milestone in the 45 years since the club was founded, St Peter's FC made history during the 2024/25 season when the men's senior team completed the Combined Counties Football (CCFL) League treble.
The McCarthy Park based club claimed the CCFL Senior Division with three games of their league season to spare, while further silverware success soon followed, the Hoops defeating Ballinahown in the Paddy Cotter Cup final and completing their season to remember with victory over Tullamore Town in the John Farrell Combined Counties Cup final.
Under the guidance of team manager, Mark McConnell, the club are now the benchmark for their CCFL Senior Division opponents and will seek to replicate their treble feat in the 2025/26 season.
The men's senior team success was duly recognised at the end of season CCFL awards night in the Bridge House Tullamore when St Peter's were announced as the 'Club of the Year', while long serving defender Scott Delaney achieved individual recognition for his performances during the 2024/25 season winning the Senior Player Merit award.
With an eye towards the future growth of the club, St Peter's have also rejuvenated football for its juvenile players, with teams competing in the Midlands Schoolboy/Girls League at a number of underage levels.
The Team of the Year finalists are the Buccaneers RFC U-17 team, St Peter's FC senior team, and Moate Community School junior ladies football team
