Ballina boss believes Brigid’s can go all the way

Ballina Stephenites manager Niall Heffernan is in no doubt about how high the ceiling is for St Brigid’s, after the Roscommon champions recorded an emphatic win over his side.

St Brigid’s won last Sunday's Connacht semi-final at Dr Hyde Park by 1-21 to 3-8 and, speaking afterwards, Hefferan said the Kiltoom outfit can not only win the Connacht title but can made a strong bid for the All-Ireland crown.

“Huge congratulations to Brigid’s, they were excellent, the better team right throughout the game,” he told Midwest Radio afterwards.

“They’re at another level, it's the level we were striving to get to, today we didn't get to it. Their movement was excellent. They seemed to always have an extra player coming through, and they got guys into space”.

So, are St Brigid’s All-Ireland contenders in his view?

“Absolutely, they have everything going for them,” he replied.

“They have pace, power, they can score, they have really good understanding of themselves, good communication on the pitch, good management structure. They're going to take some stopping,” Heffernan added.

St Brigid’s will face Galway champions Maigh Cuilinn in the Connacht final on Sunday week, November 30, when Anthony Cunningham's side will again enjoy home advantage in the familiar surroundings of Hyde Park.
