Local man takes on Movember challenge to raise awareness for men’s health issues
Derek Tully, a long standing staff member at the Abbey Hotel Roscommon, is taking bold steps this November as he embarks on the Movember challenge to raise awareness and funds for critical men’s health issues.
With a personal commitment to honour those who have faced challenges related to mental health, testicular cancer, and suicide, Derek aims to engage the local community of Roscommon in this important cause.
The reason Derek is taking part is for all the men who never got to see their 40th birthday.
“Whether it’s due to mental health struggles, testicular cancer, or suicide, I want to help raise awareness and support for these significant issues.” Derek added.
Derek’s commitment extends beyond simply growing a moustache; he has set a goal to walk 150 kilometers throughout the month of November, in addition to skipping 30 meals as a personal challenge.
His target is to raise €2000 to support initiatives that address men’s health added Geraldine Grealy, Marketing & Public Relations Manager at the Abbey.
Community support can make a significant difference, and Derek invites everyone to join him in this effort. “Thank you to everyone for your support,” he adds. “Together, we can make a positive impact on men’s health.”
