TUS students to work marketing 'mojo' on local businesses
Household business names continue to give their support to the TUS Athlone Live Digital Marketing Capstone Projects, a hallmark of the university’s commitment to industry collaboration and hands-on learning.
This national award-winning initiative, now in its eight year, connects final-year digital marketing students with companies in the region, providing them with invaluable real-world experience while driving impactful digital marketing solutions for the organisations.
Under the mentorship of Senior Lecturer Louise Murray and lecturer Tom O’Donoghue, students work with companies developing and implementing customised digital marketing strategies that align with each company’s goals.
It allows students to apply their digital classroom learning to real-world challenges, preparing them for the workforce, while delivering tangible benefits to our industry partners.
They do this with the full support of the digital marketing lecturing team.
Companies participating this year include Midlands Flavours - a network that promotes food and drink producers from the Midland counties of Laois, Longford, Offaly and Westmeath; the Wild Irish Foragers, a premium food company in County Offaly, Deanery Furniture and TUS Research, Development and Innovation.
Four Athlone business are also taking part in the initiative, Dooley’s Wedding Florist; the Shamrock Lodge Hotel; 1810 Steakhouse restaurant and Colm Quinn, while the Irish Green Building Council, a not-for-profit based in Dublin, will also contribute to the project.
Louise Murray, Senior Lecturer, Department of Business and Management, said: “The Live Digital Marketing Capstone Project at TUS plays a vital role in enhancing students’ employability while strengthening ties between the university and the regional business community. TUS has consistently placed industry collaboration at the core of its curriculum, with many past projects by our marketing students leading to long-term partnerships and career opportunities for graduates.”
