Two charities benefit from annual Ray Doyle Memorial Cup

The annual Ray Doyle Memorial Cup was held in October in the form of a two-ball scramble. This event serves both as a memorial and a fundraiser to boost two worthy charities. The organisers of the Ray Doyle Cup have expressed their thanks to all those who participated and supported this competition which was held at Custume Pitch and Putt club.

Ray’s wife Bernie and the Doyle family thank the Custume Pitch and Putt club for holding this event in Ray’s memory. Ray was a very accomplished player representing his club Custume and Westmeath.

The proceeds of the event went to two worthy charities The South Westmeath Hospice, and the Galway Hospice Foundation. The fundraising committee presented the charities with a cheque for €300 each.

The overall nett winners were Joe Clooney and Mick Convey. Bernard Moylan and Anthony Warby were the gross winners, Enda Malone and Kenny Harte were the nett runners up while John Donnelly and Davie Kiernan were the gross runners up. Susan and Wilf Rogers were the mixed winners while Adeline and Jimmy Revins were the mixed runners up.

Alan Mullally and Jimmy Mullally were the W and G winners, Mary McKenna and Mary Sheerin ere the ladies winners.

A special word of thanks goes out to Custume Pitch and Putt club committee, Chairman Pat Malone, club treasurer Liam Sherlock, club secretary Susan Rogers, and other club members. The organisers also expressed their gratitude to the catering committee, Mary Sheerin, Mary McKenna and Susan Rogers. Thanks to the groundsmen for allowing the event to happen, John Joyce, Tommy Lacey, Paul O'Connor, Papa Stephenss and Jimmy Mullally.

The organisers also expressed their deep appreciation to The Bounty and staff for hosting the presentations and sponsors Wilf Rogers, Alan Mullally and Jimmy Mullally.
