Leinster SFC draw to take place on Thursday

Westmeath will find out what their 2026 Leinster SFC path will be on Thursday evening.

Recently appointed Westmeath senior footballer manager, Mark McHugh, will learn the Lake County's Leinster senior football championship path when the provincial draw takes place in Croke Park on Thursday at 7pm.

McHugh replaced Dermot McCabe as manager of the county team in September and will be hoping to achieve Westmeath's first win in the province for four years. The Lake County last tasted a provincial championship victory in 2022 when they defeated Longford at the quarter-final stage.

Upon his appointment McHugh stated that winning a provincial fixture was one of his aims for 2026.

“I think for us as a group and as a county we need to win one Leinster Championship game before we decide we’re going to win Leinsters.

“That is our goal. We haven’t won one in a few years so let’s win one Leinster Championship game and see where that goes then," McHugh said.

The live draw will be streamed to all of the official GAA social channels and will also include a look back at last year’s championships, along with analysis and immediate reaction as the 2026 provincial paths are revealed.
