Community Christmas celebration returning to Moate's Dún na Sí
The spirit of Christmas is coming alive once again at Dún na Sí Heritage Park in Moate, as its much-loved annual Christmas celebration returns — filled with festive fun for all ages.
On Saturday next, December 6, the park will welcome Santa Claus himself for a magical day of joy and wonder.
Families can enjoy the festive atmosphere, sparkling lights, live crib, gingerbread house and more, while kids can meet Santa and get a well-deserved gift.
For the grown-ups, the Indoor Christmas Market will be the perfect spot to browse beautiful, locally made crafts, enjoy delicious seasonal treats, and warm up with a cup of mulled wine.
It’s the ideal way to support local makers and find some unique, seasonal gifts for your loved ones.
As with every event at Dún na Sí, this festive favourite is made possible thanks to park’s dedicated staff and the many local volunteers who contribute their time and effort.
Without them, the park wouldn’t be what it is today — a community-driven, inclusive space where people come together to collaborate, create, and enhance the shared spirit of the community. It is also, as always, kindly supported by Westmeath County Council.
Adding to the festive cheer this winter, visitors can enjoy Dún na Sí’s beautiful new terrace canopy — a wonderful addition that lets everyone relax and experience the park’s winter charm, whatever the weather.
This new feature is designed to serve the community year-round, providing a sheltered space for gatherings, live music performances, and other events, no matter the season.
Declan Ganley, the Chairman of Park’s Board of Management, shared his excitement: “We are thrilled to unveil this beautiful new canopy, which enhances our park and will surely become a standout feature.
“This important addition was made possible thanks to the Department of Rural and Community Development through the Community Recognition Fund. We are very excited about this new improvement to Dún na Sí, which will make visits even more enjoyable for our visitors.”
