Council announces completion of works on part of N55 in Glasson
A road resurfacing project which caused some traffic disruption in the Glasson area over recent weeks has now been completed, Westmeath County Council said.
In a post on social media, the local authority said the works "on a section of the N55 north of Glasson" were finished and the road was fully open to traffic.
The council acknowledged that these works on the N55 had caused "inconvenience" for locals, but said they were necessary to boost the long-term durability of the road surface on the busy Athlone to Ballymahon thoroughfare.
""Westmeath County Council would like to thank the public for their patience and co-operation and acknowledge the inconvenience caused tor the local and wider community during the course of the road works, which were necessary works to rehabilitate and renew the road surface in order to maintain the longevity of this National Secondary Road into the future," the local authority said.
