Troy pays tribute following death of his father
Local Fianna Fáil Minister of State Robert Troy has paid tribute to his father Paddy Troy who died peacefully on Tuesday.
The Minister described his father as a "quiet man" who was "one in a million".
"It is with deep sadness that I share the news of my father's passing.
"He showed his love for us through all that he did. I take comfort in believing that my predeceased siblings were there to welcome him to his new home," Deputy Troy said.
The late Paddy Troy died peacefully in his 91st year in the company of his loving wife and family, in the excellent care of the Midland Regional Hospital and previously in the tender care of the Portinucula Nursing Home, Multyfarnham.
He is predeceased by his infant children, his daughter Mary, son Matthew, sister Freda and brother Seamus.
Paddy will be sadly missed and always remembered by his loving wife Sarah, children Anne, Padraig, Anthony, Bernard, Michael, Gerard, Paul, Liz, Liam and Robert, brother Fr Ulic Troy ofm, his cherished grandchildren and great grandchildren, sons-in-law, daughters-in-law, nieces, nephews, family circle and friends.
He will repose in Ballynacargy Parish Church this evening (Thursday) from 4pm concluding with prayers at 7.00 pm.
His funeral mass will take place tomorrow (Friday) at 11.30 am followed by burial in Sonna Cemetery.
As a mark of respect, Deputy Troy's constituency office will remain closed on Friday and reopen on Monday, January 5.
