Our Lady's Bower elect Junior Mayor for academic year

Our Lady's Bower fifth year student Aya Qaiyas has been elected Junior Mayor at the secondary school for the 2025/26 academic year.

In her role as Junior Mayor, Aya will be responsible for informing her fellow peers about the importance of democracy, as well as briefing students on the roles, responsibilities and functions of local government.

More importantly, Aya will act as the main link between Our Lady’s Bower and local government, advocating on behalf of the students of Our Lady’s Bower on pressing local issues.

Aya enjoyed her first outing as Junior Mayor on Thursday, November 27, at the Athlone Civic Chamber, where she became acquainted with other Junior Mayors from the region.

Our Lady’s Bower would like to congratulate Aya on her achievement and wish her every success in her role as Junior Mayor.
