Two local clubs team up for '12 Laps of Christmas'

Athlone Athletics Club and Athlone Triathlon Club have joined forces to host a festive event in aid of the Friends of St Hilda’s.

The '12 Laps of Christmas' will take place at the TUS Midlands running track in Athlone next Monday, December 22. The event starts at 7pm with registration from 6.30pm and entry is €10 per person.

Urging club members and indeed the general public to take part, Athlone AC and Athlone Triathlon Club say participants can "walk, jog, run, skip, or prance your way around the track for a brilliant local cause".

The event will be a fun way to finish off a memorable year for both clubs and, no doubt, some festive attire will be on display as runners and walkers take to the track for a worthy cause.

"No club membership needed — just Christmas spirit! So, mark your calendar, set your reminders, tie some tinsel on your trainers, and come join the fun," the two clubs posted online.
