The Cushla Active Age Group in Monksland made a pre-Christmas donation of €6,000 to Roscommon Mayo Hospice at a gathering in Athlone's Shamrock Lodge Hotel.
The funds were raised by the group through bucket collections outside Mulligan's shop on the Roscommon Road, and Supervalu in Monksland, followed by a coffee morning, bake sale, brick-a-brack stall, and raffle which was held at Monksland Community Centre in November.
The group wishes to extend their heartfelt thanks to everyone who donated, baked, crafted, bought tickets or supported in any way.
A huge thank you to Annette and Angela, who run the community centre, and supplied everyone who came through the door with tea and homemade scones free of charge.
Their generosity, and the generosity of the public, made this wonderful contribution to the hospice possible.
