Freezing temperatures expected in region

A low temperature and ice warning has been issued for Westmeath and surrounding counties on Saturday and Sunday nights.

Met Éireann today said temperatures would fall to between -2 and -4 degrees in may areas with sharp or severe frost and icy stretches.

The affected counties are Carlow, Clare, Cork, Dublin, Kerry, Kildare, Kilkenny, Laois, Limerick, Longford, Meath, Offaly, Tipperary, Waterford, Westmeath, Wexford, and Wicklow

The yellow warning comes into effect at 6pm on Saturday and expires on Sunday at 11am. It also applies from 6pm on Sunday to 11am on Monday.
