Applications open for seven cost rental homes at Dun an Ri in Athlone

Applications for seven 'cost rental' homes at Dun an Ri in Athlone are now open.

Prior to the new year, Respond welcomed new tenants to 30 social homes in the Coosan development. The housing body is delivering a mix of cost rental and social homes at Dun an Ri, with this delivery comprising of 37 homes in total.

The seven homes now available under the cost rental scheme at Dun na Ri include three two-bedroom duplexes and four three-bedroom duplexes.

The two-bed duplexes are available for a rent of €1,275 per month and the three bed duplexes are available for €1,498 per month.

A deposit of one month's rent is also required.

Cost rental housing is open to people who do not qualify for social housing but whose net household income is less than €59,000 per annum.

Applications remain open until Tuesday, January 13, 2026.

The initial phase of Respond's involvement in the Dun na Ri development saw the delivery of 30 social homes across Ree House and Twy House in collaboration with Westmeath County Council.

These homes are part of a wider 50-home project, with the remaining 20 homes expected for handover early this year.

Respond also previously successfully acquired and is managing eight cost rental apartments in the Glanmore Heights block.

The latest addition of seven cost rental apartments being advertised is in the same block.

These 15 cost rental units represent a vital component of affordable housing in Athlone, according to a spokesperson for Respond.
