Local teen earns silver medal at National Cyclo-Cross Championships

Local teen Fabian Drwal earned a silver medal at the National Cyclo-Cross Championships in Cavan last weekend.

Over 300 riders took part in the Cyclo-cross National Championships, which took place on Saturday, January 10, and Sunday, January 11, at Castle Saunderson, Co Cavan, hosted by local club Breffni Wheelers.

Saturday’s programme included youth races for all ages, which "proved popular and created a great atmosphere" according to Cycling Ireland.

The purpose built track included steps, tricky technical sections and a purpose built bridge.

A student at Colaiste Chiarain in Athlone, the school congratulated Fabian on the 'fantastic result'.
