Blessing of animals takes place in Moate on Saturday

The annual blessing of animals and livestock will take place in the Carmelite Church, Moate, on Saturday, January 17.

To celebrate the Feast Day of St. Anthony, Abbot & Protector of Livestock, the annual ceremony will begin with mass in the church at 10am with prayer for the blessing of lands and the prosperity of animals.

The blessing of animals will continue throughout Saturday with blessed salt and holy water available in the porch of the church.
