Athlone Town to appoint full-time commercial manager
Athlone Town is advertising for its first-ever full-time commercial coordinator/manager.
According to the club, the person appointed to the new role will be responsible for driving "revenue growth" and strengthening the club's relationships with "sponsors, partners, and the wider community".
The club underwent significant change in 2025, when American businessman Nick Giannotti became the chairman and self-described 'controlling member' of Athlone Town AFC.
Former League of Ireland footballers Steven Gray and Brian Shelley were subsequently appointed as chief executive and technical director, respectively, at the club.
The advertisement for the role of commercial coordinator/manager states that Athlone Town "is at the beginning stages of one of the most interesting journeys in all of professional sport," having recently come under "new executive leadership" as it begins to grow "the business side of the club".
The person appointed to the role will be reporting to the "head of commercial/CEO" and will be working to "implement the club’s commercial strategy, aligning with its long-term vision and growth objectives".
The commercial manager will be asked to "identify, negotiate, and manage sponsorship and partnership opportunities at local, regional, and national levels," and will also "serve as an integral component of the matchday commercial activity, including advertising, ticketing, merchandise, and fan experience".
Among the other responsibilities of the job, according to the advertisement, will be managing "a team of TUS student interns" by "assigning projects, mentoring, and ensuring valuable learning experiences".
A "competitive salary package" is being offered for the role, "based on experience, previous results and perceived organisational fit".
The closing date for applications is 1pm on Friday, January 30, and full details are available on the club's website.
