Roscommon name team for Kerry clash as captain is confirmed
Roscommon manager Mark Dowd has named his team for his first Allianz Football League game in charge as the Rossies prepare to face Kerry in tomorrow's Division 1 game at Fitzgerald Stadium, Killarney (throw-in 2pm).
Diarmuid Murtagh has been confirmed as Roscommon captain for the 2026 season and the St Faithleach's player has been selected at left corner-forward. Dylan Ruane of Michael Glaveys will fulfill the role of vice-captain.
There are four Pádraig Pearses players on the starting team - Caelim Keogh, Ronan Daly, Conor Ryan and Eoin Colleran - with three more from the Woodmount based club listed among the subs (Declan Kenny, Jack Tumulty and Paul Carey).
Ryan (who is partnered at midfield by Keith Doyle of St Dominic's), Keogh and Colleran are among the six league debutants, the others being goalkeeper Aaron Brady, defender Eoin Ward and attacker Darragh Heneghan.
As expected, no players from All-Ireland club finalists St Brigid's are part of the match-day squad.
There are seven starters from the Roscommon team which was defeated by Kerry, 3-18 to 0-17, in the All-Ireland SFC group stages in Killarney last May.
