Bower students raise €3,671 for Breast Cancer Ireland

Five 6th year students from Our Lady's Bower Secondary School braved the dark, cold and wintry mornings of December to raise a whopping €3,671 for Breast Cancer Ireland by taking part in the '12 Dips of December' fundraiser.

The five students who literally took the plunge in Athlone: Hazel Ruddy, Sarah Rohan, Amy Watkinson, Isabel Munnelly and Isobel Claffey have been warmly praised by their school for their fantastic commitment which showed the "strong sense of community and generosity" behind the tough challenge.

"Braving the icy, wintry December mornings was no easy task" said the Bower in a Facebook post, which thanked the five girls for embarking on the fundraising challenge and raising a very generous €3,671 for Breast Cancer Ireland as a result of their early morning dips.

"A huge thank you to everyone who donated and to the school community for the support throughout the month" said the post.
