Castledaly's Duffy wins team gold in London

Castledaly athlete Ally Duffy further enhanced her sporting credentials with a collective first place podium finish at the Home Countries & Celtic Cross Country Championships in Parliament Hill London,on Saturday last.

Competing at a race distance of 6km, Ally posted an impressive finishing time of 24m 58s.

Sticking to her task despite very tough course conditions, the Moate Community School student crossed the finishing line in a creditable seventh place.

Ally's time proved important to Ireland achieving success, her running colleagues Freya and Holly Menton posting times of 23m 22 and 24m 21s respectively to ensure the gold medal was secured for the Irish team.

Ally is now looking forward to the Leinster Juvenile Indoor Track & Field Championships which take place this weekend in TUS Athlone International Arena.
