Double gold for Castledaly's Ally in Leinster championships
Ally Duffy had another very rewarding weekend on the athletics front, this time at the Leinster Juvenile Track and Field Championships in TUS Midlands, Athlone.
The young Castledaly athlete produced superb performances in both her 800m and 1500m races which she won convincingly.
Her win in the Under-17 girls 1500m was in a championship best performance of 4.37.50 - a five-second personal best for the Tullamore Harriers athlete and ten seconds faster than the previous best run in this age category.
The next day, Ally was back on the track and she raced to victory in the 800m in a time of 2.17.27.
Ally's success in Athlone comes hot on the heels of helping the Ireland U17 girls team to gold medal at the Home Countries & Celtic Cross Country Championships in Parliament Hill, London.
A daughter of Tanya and Gordon Duffy, Ally is also a talented footballer, and has excelled for both Cill Óige and Moate Community School.
