Plenty to celebrate as Goldsmiths LGFA reflects on successful 2025
Members of Goldsmiths LGFA gathered in the Rustic Inn, Abbeyshrule on Saturday night last to celebrate their successful 2025 season which culminated in Goldsmiths being crowned Westmeath LGFA Intermediate champions.
Coupled with the celebratory mood, there was an air of anticipation for the season ahead as the Tang/Tubberclair/Maryland outfit look forward to their first season in the county’s senior ranks.
In what club chairperson Tom Lennon described as an extraordinary rise through the Westmeath ranks, Goldsmiths LGFA have claimed the Junior and Intermediate titles in consecutive seasons. The 2025 season also saw them crowned Division Two League champions.
Members of the victorious Goldsmiths Intermediate team, led by captain Aisling English, were presented with their county medals by Westmeath LGFA Chairperson Geraldine Giles who spoke at her delight to be in attendance on the evening and noted the incredible achievements of the club over the previous seasons.
Team manager Damien Reynolds, credited the immense dedication shown by the entire panel and extended management team as being the key to their unprecedented 2025 success. A former Maryland footballer, Damien spoke specifically of the team spirit and ambition of the group and looked forward to the upcoming season.
A testament to the achievements of Goldsmiths LGFA in the 2025 season was the inclusion of a number of their victorious intermediate team on Westmeath panels for 2026. Rebecca Higgins, Laura Madden, Sarah Murphy and sisters Lisa and Sinead Seery feature at senior level, together with Erika Higgins and Charleigh Seery at minor level, where they are joined by fellow Goldsmiths player Niamh Purtill.
Goldsmiths are celebrating their largest ever representation on Westmeath intercounty teams having representatives at all age grades with an impressive total of 16 club players selected at Under-14, Under-16, Minor and Senior levels.
Registration for the 2026 season is now open for new and returning members across all age groups from nursery through to Senior.
