Sensei Patrick Beaumont, Chief Instructor of St Mary's Karate Club, which will celebrate its 40th anniversary this year, will lead the festivities through Athlone for St Patrick's Day.
This year, the parade is set to take place on St Patrick's Day, Tuesday, March 17, at 12.30pm led by the Band of the 2nd BDE.
The Croí Na hEireann festival will take place for five days, commencing with a Futsal Tournament at the Multi-purpose Hall in TUS on Friday, March 13.
The programme of events will comprise activities and contributions from the Luan Gallery, Dean Crowe Hall, The River Festival, Feile na Sionnaine, Athlone Sub Aqua, Athlone Comhaltas, River Safety, Athlone Agri Show and local sporting Clubs.
A fundraising table quiz took place on Friday, February 20, in The Bounty, in aid of the festivities.
Five teams tied for first place, and the tie breaker question was correctly answered by Team 2 comprising Chris and Jim Mulkerrins, Kieran Burke and Tony Dunne. The group kindly donated their prize winnings back to the festival fundraising account.
