Tenders sought for delivery of major new IDA office building

Tenders are being sought for the delivery of a new advanced office building at the IDA Garrycastle Business and Technology Park in Athlone.

The value of the tender contract is estimated at €250,000 and will see the delivery of a a 6,275 square metre office on a greenfield site extending to approximately 1.5 hectares in size.

Subject to design, it is envisaged that the proposed office building consisting of two connecting blocks will be constructed over three floors. Provisions have been made for 186 car parking spaces, including accessible spaces, EV charging, and bicycle facilities.

Tenders for a multi-disciplinary management team to oversee the proposed development are now open with a closing date for applications of March 13.

Details of the proposed development were recently published on the government's eTenders contracting website, with a project manager, employers representative and quantity surveyor being sought to deliver the office building.

The documents state that the "appointed project management team will oversee all aspects of the project, ensuring that the design team delivers on key requirements such as compliance, sustainability, stakeholder engagement, maintenance considerations and the preparation of all design deliverables".

"The successful firm will ensure provision of the required services and appoint all the appropriate consultants under their control as required.

"This collaborative approach will ensure the successful delivery of a high-quality office building that meets IDA and client expectations within the timelines outlined in the planning documents".

According to the etender documents, the proposed development will incorporate five stages, the "project management led multi-disciplinary design team fulfilling preliminary design, design, procurement and assessment of a works contractor, construction and handover" requirements.

Documents show that the the successful applicant will be appointed in March with works proposed to start on a 30 month project next month also.
