New safety measures for Clonbonny junction
The Clonbonny junction on the N62 is set to receive new safety measures, it was said at the latest meeting of Athlone Moate Municipal District.
Cllr John Dolan brought forward a motion to "put new double yellow lines, signage and other safety measures at the Clonbonny junction at Moore’s garage and exiting the industrial units beside the garage”.
"I met with residents and an engineer down there in, I think, November 2023, which is two and a half years ago now," Cllr Dolan said.
"We need yellow boxes, double yellow lines to prevent people from parking there. I'm happy to meet with residents to make an interim plan, but I think we need a long-term plan."
District engineer Willie Ryan referred to works on the N62 which were to be completed by Transport Infrastructure Ireland but noted progress has not been made.
"We will do the necessary design, and we will meet the members of the community, and we can press on with the works."
