Bower students enjoy trip to Berlin
Second Year students from Our Lady’s Bower recently enjoyed a four-day educational trip to Berlin, packed with cultural experiences, historical exploration and plenty of fun along the way.
The trip began with a guided walking tour of the German capital, where students visited some of Berlin’s most famous landmarks including the Brandenburg Gate, the Jewish Memorial, Neptune Fountain, City Hall, the Neue Wache Memorial, the Book Burning Memorial and the historic Museum Island. The group also took part in a Berlin Bunker tour, where they learned about the various uses of underground bunkers during the war. The day concluded with some time exploring the shops in Alexanderplatz.
Day two brought a visit to the famous Ritter Sport Chocolate Factory, where students had the opportunity to create their own chocolate bars. Afterwards, the group travelled to the Mall of Berlin before enjoying a stroll along the Berlin Wall to see its well-known murals. The day finished with a visit to the top of the Berlin TV Tower, where students took in panoramic views of the city from 260 metres above ground.
On day three, students spent the day at Tropical Islands Water Park, enjoying the slides, rapids and lazy rivers, with some even taking part in the indoor hot air balloon experience. The evening included shuffleboard, board games and karaoke back at the hotel.
The trip concluded with visits to the Olympic Stadium and the Reichstag, home of the German Parliament.
The school would like to sincerely thank Ms Windle for organising the trip and ensuring everything ran smoothly. Thanks also to Ms Canton, Ms Cooney, Ms Fallon, Ms Quilty, Ms Moloney, Ms Mooney and Ms Gudgie Moran for accompanying and supporting the students throughout the trip.
