Local counties represented on GAA.ie 'Team of the Week'

Two senior footballers from local counties have been named on the GAA.ie 'Team of the Week'.

Westmeath's Ronan Wallace and Enda Smith of Roscommon have been recognised for their individual displays in their county's respective NFL Division 3 and and Division 1 wins.

Wallace contributed 1-4, including two two-pointers, as the Lake County saw off the stubborn resistance of Limerick to set up a promotion showdown with Wexford on Sunday next.

The Multyfarnham club player regularly impacts the scoreboard from his customary wing back berth and Westmeath manager Mark McHugh will be hoping his form is sustained for the crunch clash in Wexford, and beyond, this weekend.

Meanwhile, Enda Smith received the 'Man of the Match' accolade for his influential performance against Donegal in King & Moffatt Dr Hyde Park on Sunday afternoon.

The centre forward scored six points, including two two-pointers, over the game's duration as Roscommon secured a vital win in their quest to achieve a place in the Division 1 final.

With four wins from six games played, Mark Dowd's team have showed impressive form and should results fall in their favour this weekend, they could potentially end their Division 1 campaign in a Croke Park league final.

Smith has also been nominated for GAA.ie 'Player of the Week' in recognition of his weekend performance.

Kerry's Sean O'Shea and Jack O'Connor of Meath have also been nominated for the accolade.

The 'Player of the Week' voting process is simple - like their image on the GAA's official Instagram page.

Voting will close at 10am on Wednesday, March 18, and the winner will be announced on GAA.ie.
