Athlone Boxing Club brings home five gold medals from Leinster championships

After six days of boxing at a tough Leinster schoolboys and girls championships, Athlone Boxing Club returned home with an impressive haul of five gold medals.

The young members of the Athlone club produced some great boxing during the provincial finals, which were held at Marble City Boxing Club in Kilkenny last week and weekend.

Congratulations to the club's five Leinster champions: Shanice Ward (Girl 1 31kg champion), Jerry Ward (Boy 1, 50kg champion), Alice Joyce (75kg+ champion), Thady Joyce (Boy 1, 62kg champion) and Bradley Ward (Boy 2, 40kg champion). Well done to all.

Athlone Boxing Club will now has seven boxers heading to the national boxing championships for Boy/Girl 1, 2 and 3 grades.

These national championships will be held in Dublin's National Stadium from Monday next, April 6, to April 11.
