South Roscommon public asked to attend important safety meeting in Athlone
The Roscommon Local Community Safety Partnership (LCSP) will be holding a public consultation meeting in Athlone next Monday evening, April 13.
The meeting will take place at the Athlone Springs Hotel in Monksland (7pm to 8.30pm), as the Partnership continues to seek the public's assistance in shaping its first ever Public Safety Plan.
The event is one of three scheduled to take place across Roscommon between April 9 and April 15, with the other events staged in Boyle and Roscommon town.
The LCSP said that it is 'committed to a collaborative, community focused approach to safety across the county', and that along with the recent launch of its Community Safety Survey (see www.roscommoncoco.ie for details), the three meetings will give residents a chance to share their views and help shape Roscommon’s first Community Safety Plan.
It said that the views of the people are important in helping shape Roscommon’s new Community Safety Plan - a plan focused on ensuring people feel safe and supported in their local communities. Among the many issues expected to be discussed at the Athlone event include policing and emergency services, community engagement and development, youth participation and prevention initiatives, education, public space and amenities, community services and family supports.
The LCSP also recently launched the Roscommon Safety Information Morning, a free event for residents aged 55+, which is due to take place in the Abbey Hotel, Roscommon on Monday, April 29, where speakers from An Garda Síochána, Roscommon Fire Services and the RSA will be in attendance.
