Three changes in Westmeath team for Longford test

Westmeath and Longford have named their teams for this Sunday's Leinster SFC opening round clash at Glennon Brothers Pearse Park (throw-in 3pm).

There are three changes to the Westmeath team which lost out in agonising fashion to Wexford in their last Division 3 league game.

Mark McHugh and his management team have handed starting berths to Tadhg Baker (Caulry), Ray Connellan (Athlone) and Brandon Kelly (Milltownpass) in place of Boidu Sayeh, Jonathan Lynam and Danny McCartan.

Baker replaced Sayeh after the Rosemount man picked up an injury during the first half of the Wexford game. Neither Sayeh nor Lynam are named in the match-day squad which suggests both are carrying injuries.

In addition to the eleven subs, there are four standby players listed on the Westmeath panel - a quartet which includes Caulry's Conor McCormack, who hasn't featured yet this season.

Interestingly, there are just five survivors from the Westmeath team which started the county's last championship meeting with Longford in 2022. The five players are Jason Daly, Ronan Wallace, Ray Connellan, Sam McCartan and Luke Loughlin.

That aforementioned encounter in 2022 is actually Westmeath's last time to record a victory in the Leinster SFC. Since then, Westmeath have suffered defeats to Kildare (twice), Louth and Wicklow.
