Venue confirmed for Roscommon's All-Ireland series clash with Cork

Their All-Ireland senior football championship future very much in the balance, Roscommon will travel to O'Moore Park, Portlaoise to play Cork in their final Group 2 fixture on Saturday, June 14 (throw-in, 4.15pm).

A draw would secure a place in the preliminary quarter-finals of this year's Sam Maguire competition, while victory, in tandem with a Kerry defeat of Meath in the group's other fixture, has the potential (based on scoring difference) to catapult Davy Burke's charges into second place in the group. This would secure a home game in their preliminary quarter-final, while a third-placed finish would lead to an away fixture.

With a loss and a draw garnered to date in their All-Ireland series campaign, Roscommon will be hoping to progress upon their comeback result in Dr Hyde Park on Sunday when, trailing by five points in the second half of the contest they retrieved the deficit and may have won the game but for a late Meath score.

Cork go into the fixture knowing only a victory will maintain their All-Ireland senior football championship interest, the Rebel County suffering defeat to Meath and Kerry in their opening two group encounters.

They were highly competitive for large spells of their contest with Kerry on Saturday before the Kingdom exerted their dominance in the final quarter to win by 11 points.

Roscommon and Cork met in the All-Ireland preliminary quarter-final in 2023, the Rebels earning a win by the minimum margin at Páirc Uí Chaoimh.
