Athlone Town senior teams learn FAI Cup draw fate

Athlone Town have been drawn to play Kerry FC in the second round of the 2025 Sport's Direct Men's FAI Cup.

The Lissywollen club will travel to Mounthawk Park to play the hosts in a fixture to take place on the week ending Sunday, July 20.

The teams met at the Kerry venue in a SSE Airtricity Men's First Division encounter in April, Athlone suffering a loss after which then manager Dario Castelo departed the club.

Athlone will host their cup opponents on Friday, June 13, following the resumption of league fixtures after the mid-summer break.

Athlone Town currently lie at the foot of the First Division table with just three wins from their 17 games played to date.

Meanwhile, Athlone Town senior women's team will host Eastern Women's Football League side Terenure Rangers in the first round of the 2025 Sports Direct Women's FAI Cup.

Colin Fortune's charges, who currently head the Women's Premier Division, will welcome the Dublin club to Lissywollen on the week ending Sunday, June 29.
