Lough Ree Monster Triathlon returns to Coosan Point

A firm favourite on the Midlands sporting calendar, Athlone Triathlon Club will host the Lough Ree Monster Triathlon at Coosan Point on Saturday, September 6.

Catering for all participant levels, Athlone Triathlon Club is preparing to welcome "seasoned triathletes" and those who are "just dipping their toes in the water" as the ever popular event returns in early autumn.

The Lough Ree Monster Triathlon comprises both a 'Sprint' and 'Try-A-Tri- event to cater for all participants.

The 'Sprint' category incorporates a 750m swim, 18km cycle and 5km run, while the 'Try-A-Tri' will feature a 250m swim, 18km cycle and 5km run.

Athlone Triathlon Club has described the event as an "iconic race which has become a firm favourite on the triathlon calendar, a mix of serious racing and unforgettable atmosphere."

It promises to be a busy period for Athlone Triathlon Club as the club prepares to host the National Aquathon Championships on August 3, a race which will bring athletes from across Ireland to compete in a challenging open-water swim and run course set against the stunning backdrop of the River Shannon and Athlone’s historic town centre.

Registration for the Lough Ree Monster Triathlon is now open at www.triathlonireland.com.
