No injuries in Athlone town bridge car fire incident
A unit of the Athlone Fire Service attended the scene of a car fire incident at Athlone town bridge on Saturday evening last (June 21).
The Fire Service was alerted to the incident at 7.55pm on the Saturday, Senior Assistant Chief Fire Officer Pat Hunt confirming that the unit had returned to the fire station "within the hour" following the fire.
"There was no occupant in the car, a 2012 Audi A6, at the time of the incident.
"The fire may have started as a result of a tyre bursting or a fuel tank issue. Thankfully, there were no injuries as a result of it," Mr Hunt said.
