Community Games soccer gold for Taughmaconnell U12 girls' team

Gold was the colour for the Taughmaconnell U12 girls' seven-a-side soccer team as they achieved major medal success at the Cairn Community Games at the weekend.

Playing a Dublin representative team, the girls displayed all their dedication and skillset to claim victory in a nail-biting finish to the final contest.

The players and management advanced to the finals in SETU Carlow courtesy of provincial success which was earned with convincing wins over Rosses Point from Sligo and Oranmore-Maree of Galway.

Meanwhile, two Moore Community Games competitors also participated in the All-Ireland finals in SETU, Carlow, last weekend.

Matthew Dolan (12) participated in the under-12 boys long puck finals on Saturday, while Ruby Whyte ran in the under-8 girls 80 metres finals on Sunday.

While neither made the podium, they are an inspiration to children and young people thinking of taking part in 2026.
