Family friendly programme of events planned for Dún na Sí

As the season draws to a close, Dún na Sí Amenity & Heritage Park in Moate is offering a final opportunity for the public to enjoy the venue before it closes on the last day of September.

A number of family friendly events have been planned for the month, commencing on September 12-13 with the No-Dig Dye Garden workshops led by artist Patsy Preston in the atmospheric ring fort. This September gathering is one of the final chapters of her long-running creative project at the park, inviting participants to explore natural dyeing, sustainability, and traditional craft in a heritage setting.

On September 17-18, the much-loved Circus Corvenieo arrives in Moate. Run by the McCormick family, the circus has been part of Irish cultural life for generations and continues to entertain audiences with its family tradition of performance and spectacle. The show is fully animal-free, focusing entirely on human skill and creativity.

For the first time, Dún na Sí will also take part in Culture Night on Friday, September 19, opening the park in the evening for music and community celebration. Harp music and a drumming band will bring a special atmosphere as the park joins cultural institutions across Ireland and beyond for this global event.

“I am genuinely excited that Dún na Sí will be joining the global Culture Night celebration for the first time.

“It’s inspiring to see our park stand alongside spaces of every scale, from world-famous museums to small community venues like ours, all united for one evening dedicated to culture and heritage," Maya, Manager of Dún na Sí, said.

The season ends with the final Dún na Sí Market Day on September 20, where local vendors, crafts, and homemade produce create a warm and welcoming atmosphere.

September is the last chance this year to experience the blend of heritage, creativity, and community spirit that makes Dún na Sí so special, before the park closes with the end of the month.
