Golden Discs to unveil expanded new store in Athlone Towncentre

Golden Discs will unveil an expanded new store in Athlone Towncentre on Saturday (September 27).

Having been part of the Towncentre since 2012, Golden Discs is doubling down on its commitment to local music fans with a stunning new first-floor space more than twice the size of its previous store.

The move comes in direct response to surging customer demand for greater choice, more variety, and the full Golden Discs experience under one roof.

The new store will showcase one of Ireland’s largest selections of vinyl and CDs, spanning timeless classics, hot new releases, and exclusive fan favourites. Music lovers can also browse a premium line of turntables, speakers, and headphones, making it the perfect destination for both seasoned collectors and first-time buyers.

Beyond music, the Athlone store is ramping up its film and pop-culture offering with an extensive catalogue of DVD, Blu-ray, and 4K titles, alongside a bold new range of merchandise, apparel, and collectables. From T-shirts and baseball caps to Funkos, mystery bags, and hard-to-find fan gear, there’s something to excite every generation of music and movie fans.

“We are delighted to finally have the opportunity to significantly upsize our Athlone Towncentre store, carrying all the latest merch and pop-culture gear as well as a huge range of catalogue and new release albums and films,” said Stephen Fitzgerald, CEO of Golden Discs.

Opening day promises plenty of excitement with special offers, in-store giveaways, and exclusive surprises for early visitors. Golden Discs is also expanding its team in Athlone, recruiting additional staff ahead of what’s set to be a busy festive season.

With this major expansion, Golden Discs continues to cement its position as the go-to destination for Irish music, film, and pop culture fans — a true celebration of sound, style, and everything in between.
