World Boxing Championships bronze medallist Patsy Joyce has been named in the Ireland team for the European U23 Championships.

Joyce aiming for more boxing glory at European U23 Championships

Fresh from his bronze medal achievement at the World Boxing Championships, Mullingar's Patsy Joyce has been named in a 16-strong Ireland team to contest the inaugural IABA European U23 competition.

The tournament will take place in Budapest, Hungary, from November 21-30, with Joyce hoping to replicate his recent ring success in Liverpool.

The Mullingar boxer narrowly lost his World Championship semi-final bout to Paris 2024 Olympian Spain's Rafael Serrano Lozano, but won three contests en route to winning his bronze medal.

The 19-year-old is a member of the Olympic Boxing Club in Mullingar and will contest the 55kg category at the European Championships.

He will be joined in Budapest by Robyn Kelly from the Ballynacargy Boxing Club. Robyn was a U23 European bronze medallist in 2024 and will box in the 54kg category at the championships.

The draw, which sets out the path to the podium for both Westmeath boxers and their teammates, will take place on November 22.
