Weather warnings issued for Midlands as Storm Amy to arrive on Friday
The first named storm of the 2025/26 'storm season' is set to reach Ireland this Friday.
Storm Amy has led to a yellow-level wind warning being issued by Met Eireann for all counties, including Westmeath and Roscommon.
Strong to near gale force and gusty southwesterly winds are forecast, with the weather warning taking effect at 12 noon on Friday and remaining in place until midnight.
And the very unsettled weather is set to kick in before Friday, with certain counties, including Roscommon and Longford, subject to a yellow-level rainfall warning throughout the day tomorrow (Thursday).
The rainfall warning will take effect at 6am tomorrow and continue until 8pm, leading to difficult travelling conditions for people travelling to and from school or work.
Storm Amy is the first named storm of the 2025/2026 season which started a month ago today, on September 1, and continues until August 31, 2026.
