Midlands Simon Community receive over €142k from Community Safety Fund
The Midlands Simon Community has been awarded over €142,000 from the Community Safety Fund to support their ‘Reconnect: Midlands Reintegration and Community Safety Pilot’ project.
The funding was part of the recent announcement by Minister for Justice, Jim O’Callaghan TD, and welcomed by Minister of State Kevin ‘Boxer’ Moran.
The Community Safety Fund redirects proceeds from crime, seized by the Criminal Assets Bureau (CAB) and An Garda Síochána, back into local communities to support initiatives aimed at improving safety and addressing social issues.
The Reconnect Pilot will provide vital support for individuals experiencing homelessness, offering them a pathway to stability and safety, while also contributing to overall community wellbeing. Minister Moran expressed his support for the initiative, emphasizing how important it is for the proceeds of crime to be reinvested in ways that benefit the community.
Boxer also acknowledged the work of local groups and the National Office for Community Safety, which will continue to oversee and support these types of projects, ensuring the funds are used effectively to address pressing social issues.
Midlands Simon Community joins a number of local organisations benefiting from the fund, demonstrating the positive impact of the Community Safety Fund in building safer and more supportive communities.
