Local man receives photography award for Flannery’s snap

Irish Wheelchair Association member Ryan Minagh recently won an award in the SkillFest 2025 Photography Competition, a nationwide event run by the Irish Wheelchair Association.

The 20-year-old received the accolade for his photograph, titled “A Pint with My Pal”, which beautifully captures two dogs in Flannery’s Pub in Athlone, reflecting this year’s competition theme “Life in Ireland".

The IWA Art and Photography Exhibition and Award Ceremony took place at The Courtyard Hotel in Leixlip, Kildare, where Ryan’s work was proudly showcased alongside entries from IWA Centres across the country.

Ryan has long been involved with the Children’s Sunshine Club in IWA Athlone and remains an active member today.

When he became an adult, he took a position in the School Leavers Programme with IWA Roscommon, where he continues to contribute with enthusiasm and creativity.

His support worker Judy Sadlowska said: "I was delighted to enter his photograph into the competition and to see his creativity, talent, and unique perspective recognised by the Irish Wheelchair Association. I would also like to thank Anne Flannery for all her help."
