Dundalk proves fruitful for Rory Cleary
Athlone jockey Rory Cleary enjoyed two winners in Dundalk last week.
The seven-year-old Numidia landed his third success at the course and his fourth in all when winning the two-mile handicap in the hands of Rory Cleary on Wednesday.
Trained in Wicklow by Peter Lawlor and carrying his own colours, the 15/2 chance led early in the race and again over two furlongs out to beat the Noel Kelly-trained 14/1 shot Echinacea by a comfortable length and a quarter.
It was a little tighter as Cleary landed his second winner of the week when partnering the 7/1 chance Beau Army to take the six-furlong nursery handicap for trainer Ado McGuinness at Dundalk on Friday evening.
She led inside the final furlong and had half a length to spare in beating the Kevin Smith-trained 3/1 joint-favourite Royal County Glory.
