Tributes paid following passing of prominent local businessman
Extensive tributes have been paid following the death of Manfred Walesch, the owner of the popular Killinure Chalets and Restaurant in Glasson.
The late Mr Walesch passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, December 31.
He and his wife Geraldine had been involved in the business for some 30 years.
Predeceased by his beloved parents Henri and Margaret and his best friend James. Sadly missed by his loving wife Geraldine (née O'Meara), sons William and Karl, brother Egon an his partner Richard, daughter-in-law Aoife and Karl's partner Doireann, his adoring granddaughters Evie and Lucy, aunts, uncles, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives and many friends.
Mr Walesch is reposing at Flynn's Funeral Home, Athlone (N37 WY17) today (Friday) from 4pm until 7pm. Requiem Mass in Our Lady's Queen of Peace Church, Coosan on Saturday at 12 noon followed by private cremation.
Among those to pay tribute to the late Mr Walesch was Glasson Golf Club, which said its President, Captains, committees and members offered their sincere condolences to neighbours Geraldine, William, Karl, Egon and the Walesch family on the sad passing of Manfred.
"A good friend to our club, and a kind and generous host to all who visited Killinure Chalets."
Coosan and District Anglers said: "It is with profound sadness that we mark the passing of Manfred Walesch. We sympathise with his wife Geraldine and family and great many friends. Manfred has been a valued member and generous supporter of our fishing club since its inception and his loss will be felt deeply and personally by our members."
