Irish Rail says no delays as power restored in Athlone train station
Irish Rail has confirmed there were no delays to services after power was restored at Athlone train station this morning.
A power outage affecting the wider Athlone area continued to impact the station earlier today, before electricity was fully restored at 10.20am following work by ESB and Irish Rail engineers.
Despite the outage, Irish Rail said services operated as normal and no disruptions were reported.
A spokesperson explained that the station was without power this morning after an outage overnight on Wednesday. Hand lamps were used to ensure passengers could board early morning trains safely, and all services ran as scheduled.
