South Roscommon’s Kelly Céilí Band raises €1,200 for Make-A-Wish on Wren Day
The Kelly family from the Drum area of Athlone have raised an incredible €1,240 in just 24 hours for Make-A-Wish Foundation in the annual Lá an Dreoilín (Wren Day).
The talented group of young musicians treated neighbours, friends and family to a Trad session. This included Tadhg on the tin whistle, Mollie on the accordion, Éanna on the banjo, and Aoibh on the fiddle.
The kids, who are pupils of Cornafulla Primary School and members of Athlone Comhaltas, had an early start as they shared music throughout the Drum community.
A total of 51 donations were made to their GoFundMe page, with the family extended their thanks to everyone who donated so generously, including neighbours, friends and families, and a special word of thanks to the parents of Cornafulla National School for their kind and generous donations.
Their parents, Sarah and Paddy Kelly, shared their heartfelt thanks to their dedicated music teachers, Cian Cunniffe, Anne-Marie Durney Emma Rowan and Cornafulla teacher Ms Ward, for their commitment and hard work throughout the year.
This wonderful achievement highlights what can be achieved through the kindness and spirit of a community.
The Kelly Céilí Band are now preparing for the Roscommon Fleadh.
