Parts of Athlone to face 12-hour water supply disruption early next week
Several areas of Athlone are set to experience disruption to their water supply over a 12-hour period starting this Monday evening (January 26).
In a statement, Uisce Éireann said Montree, Athlone town, Cornamagh, Ballymahon Road, and surrounding areas, "may experience planned outages to their supply on Monday, January 26, from 7pm to Tuesday, January 27 at 7am."
It added that, when residents' water supply returns, "there may be some increased instances of discoloured water in the short-term".
Uisce Éireann said the planned outages are part of its ongoing Athlone Water Network Upgrade project "which will facilitate future development in the town, support social and economic growth, and improve the capacity and performance of Athlone’s water network".
Uisce Éireann’s Padraig Hanly said: "We understand the inconvenience caused by an interruption to supply overnight.
"Every effort will be made to limit the impact of these essential works, and we would like to thank the community in advance for their patience and cooperation."
