Man to appear in court over Athlone Garda Station damage

A man is due to appear in court his morning in connection with incidents of criminal damage at Athlone Garda Station last evening.

Gardai said a man, aged in his late 30s was arrested at the scene, and detained under Section 4 of the Criminal Justice Act, 1984 at a Garda station in the division.

He has since been charged, and is expected to appear before Mullingar District Court this morning, Monday, at approximately 10.30am.

Photos circulating online appeared to show the front door window of the station damaged, as well as damage to the windscreens of a number of Garda vehicles.
