Special St Brigid's Cross-making events in Clonmacnoise this weekend
The Clonmacnoise monastic site, on the banks of the River Shannon in Offaly, will be among the historic locations holding special events celebrating St Brigid this weekend.
With St Brigid's Day approaching this Sunday, February 1, the Office of Public Works (OPW) said related events will be taking place at a number of its locations nationwide.
At the Clonmacnoise Visitor Centre, visitors will be offered the opportunity to create their own St Brigid's crosses this Friday, Saturday, and Sunday, between 10am and 4pm.
Materials and step-by-step instructions will be provided to guide participants through the process. Colouring sheets and activity worksheets are also due to be made available in Clonmacnoise for young aspiring artists to enjoy.
